Turkish citizenship acquired by birth is acquired automatically on the basis of paternity or place of birth. Citizenship acquired by birth is effective from the moment of birth.
Citizenship Acquired on the Basis of Descent: 
Citizenship acquired by descent refers to the acquisition of the citizenship of the Turkish citizen mother or father to whom the child is bound by descent at the time of birth.
In the acquisition of Turkish citizenship by descent, it is sufficient that only one of the mother or father is a Turkish citizen at the time of birth, and the other being a citizen of a foreign state does not constitute an obstacle to the acquisition of Turkish citizenship.
Notifications made from abroad regarding birth after completing the age of eighteen:
The registration in the family register of persons living abroad who have completed the age of eighteen but have not been notified of their birth is possible if it is determined as a result of the examination to be carried out by the Ministry that they have acquired Turkish citizenship due to Turkish citizen mother or father.

A child who is born in Turkey and who cannot acquire citizenship of any state due to reasons such as his/her parents being unknown or being stateless or being unable to acquire citizenship in accordance with national laws, acquires Turkish citizenship from the date of his/her birth. 
A child born in Turkey shall be deemed to have been born in Turkey unless it is established that he/she was born outside Turkey. Found children who cannot express themselves due to their young age shall be registered in the population registers of the place where they are found based on the minutes of law enforcement officers or relevant institutions stating this situation or the declaration of the relevant persons.

Acquisition of Turkish Citizenship According to General Provisions  
In foreigners who wish to acquire Turkish citizenship in accordance with Article 11 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901To be an adult and have the power of discernment according to his/her own national law, or if he/she is stateless, according to the Turkish Civil Code No. 4721.
Have resided in Turkey for five years without interruption retrospectively to the date of application.
Having confirmed his/her decision to settle in Turkey by acquiring immovable property in Turkey, establishing a business, making an investment, transferring his/her trade and business centre to Turkey, working in a workplace subject to a work permit and similar acts, or marrying a Turkish citizen, applying as a family, having parents, siblings or children who have previously acquired Turkish citizenship or completing his/her education in Turkey.
Not having a disease that poses a danger to general health.
To show that he/she has good morals by acting with the sense of responsibility required by living together in society, to give confidence to his/her environment with his/her behaviour, not to have bad habits that are not welcomed by the society and contrary to the values of the society.
To be able to speak Turkish at a level that can adapt to social life.
To have an income or profession in Turkey that will ensure the livelihood of himself/herself and his/her dependents.
Not having a situation that will constitute an obstacle in terms of national security and public order. conditions are sought.

Persons who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by birth and who wish to acquire Turkish citizenship shall acquire Turkish citizenship with the decision of the Ministry if they declare in writing that they wish to become Turkish citizens.
The acquisition of Turkish citizenship by being a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus does not affect the spouse, and the provisions of Article 20 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901 shall apply to their children.
The provisions of Article 11 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901 shall apply to foreigners who have acquired the citizenship of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus later.

Persons who have lost Turkish citizenship due to their parents who have lost Turkish citizenship by obtaining an exit permit and who make a written notification to acquire Turkish citizenship within three years from the date they become adults may acquire Turkish citizenship by exercising the right to choose.
Loss of Turkish citizenship by exercising the right to choose shall become effective as of the date of the decision of the Ministry regarding the determination of the existence of the conditions for the exercise of this right.

In the cases listed in Article 12 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901, foreigners may acquire Turkish citizenship with the proposal of the Ministry and the decision of the Council of Ministers, regardless of the other conditions sought for the acquisition of Turkish citizenship in general, provided that they do not have any obstacle in terms of national security and public order.
Pursuant to Article 12 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901 
The following foreigners may acquire Turkish citizenship upon the proposal of the Ministry and the decision of the Council of Ministers, provided that they do not constitute an obstacle in terms of national security and public order. 
Persons who bring industrial facilities to Turkey or who have rendered or are expected to render extraordinary services in scientific, technological, economic, social, sportive, cultural, artistic fields and for whom a reasoned proposal is made by the relevant ministries.
Foreigners who have a residence permit pursuant to subparagraph (j) of the first paragraph of Article 31 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458 dated 4/4/2013 and numbered 6458, and foreigners with Turquoise Card and their foreign spouses, their and their spouses' minor or dependent foreign children.
Persons deemed necessary to be naturalised.

According to the Law No. 5543 on Settlement, the citizenship file of the persons whose procedures are completed and accepted as immigrants is prepared by the provincial directorate of migration administration and sent to the Ministry. The file of the foreigner sent to the Ministry to acquire Turkish citizenship is examined and a proposal is made to the Council of Ministers for the person to acquire Turkish citizenship. Turkish citizenship can be acquired with the decision of the Council of Ministers. 
Pursuant to Article 12 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901
The following foreigners may acquire Turkish citizenship with the proposal of the Ministry and the decision of the Council of Ministers, provided that there is no obstacle in terms of national security and public order. ( (d) Persons accepted as immigrants.)

Provided that there is no obstacle in terms of national security,
Those who lost their Turkish citizenship by obtaining an exit permit,
Children who have lost Turkish citizenship due to their parents and who have not exercised their right to vote within three years from the date of majority,
Persons who have lost Turkish citizenship pursuant to subparagraphs (a), (ç), (d) and (e) of Article 25 of the abrogated Turkish Citizenship Law No. 403 may regain Turkish citizenship regardless of the duration of their residence in Turkey.
Pursuant to Article 13 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901 
Provided that there is no obstacle in terms of national security, the following persons may regain Turkish citizenship with the decision of the Ministry, regardless of the duration of their residence in Turkey. 
Those who lost Turkish citizenship by obtaining an exit permit.  
Those who have lost Turkish citizenship due to their parents and have not exercised their right to choose within the period stipulated in Article 21.
Pursuant to Article 43 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901: 
Persons who have lost Turkish citizenship pursuant to subparagraphs (a), (ç), (d) and e of Article 25 of the abrogated Turkish Citizenship Law No. 403 may be re-acquired Turkish citizenship by the decision of the Council of Ministers without the condition of residence in Turkey, provided that they do not have an obstacle in terms of national security.

Pursuant to Law No. 5901, those who have lost their Turkish citizenship and those who have lost their Turkish citizenship by exercising their right to choose may regain Turkish citizenship provided that they do not have a situation that would constitute an obstacle in terms of national security and that they reside in Turkey for three years. 
Pursuant to Article 14 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901: 
Those who have lost Turkish citizenship pursuant to Article 29 may regain Turkish citizenship with the decision of the Council of Ministers, and those who have lost Turkish citizenship pursuant to Article 34 may regain Turkish citizenship with the decision of the Ministry, provided that they do not have a situation that would constitute an obstacle in terms of national security and reside in Turkey for three years.

Marriage to a Turkish citizen does not directly confer Turkish citizenship. Foreigners who have been married to a Turkish citizen for at least three years and whose marriage continues may apply for Turkish citizenship.
If the marriage is terminated due to the death of the Turkish citizen spouse after the application date, the condition of living in family unity is not required.
Foreigners who acquire Turkish citizenship by marriage shall retain their Turkish citizenship in case the marriage is declared null and void if they were bona fide in the marriage.
In the event that the marriage of the foreigner who acquired Turkish citizenship through marriage is decided to be null and void, the issue of whether the foreigner will retain his/her Turkish citizenship is asked from the Ministry through the Governorship.
Pursuant to Article 16 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901
Marriage with a Turkish citizen does not directly confer Turkish citizenship. However, foreigners who have been married to a Turkish citizen for at least three years and whose marriage continues may apply to acquire Turkish citizenship. The applicants must;

Living in family unity,
Not to engage in any activity incompatible with the marriage union,
The conditions of not having an obstacle in terms of national security and public order are sought. 
In case the marriage is terminated due to the death of the Turkish citizen spouse after the application, the condition in subparagraph (a) of the first paragraph shall not be sought.
Foreigners who acquire Turkish citizenship through marriage shall retain their Turkish citizenship if they are bona fide in the marriage in case the marriage is declared null and void.
